Minimum services for the metro strike on Monday 17 July

Strike action is planned for three time periods, during the morning and afternoon rush hours (40% of services running) and in the evening (20% of regular services).

The action coincides with peak travel times, when the metro is busiest as people go to and from work and their places of study. Minimum services will be maintained, with 40% of trains operating at peak periods and 20% in off peak hours.

Affected services and time periods are as follows:

— From 7 to 9 am (40% of services): intervals of 8-10 minutes on conventional lines and 12 to 16 minutes on automated lines.
— From 4 to 6 pm (40% of services): intervals of 10-13 minutes on conventional lines and 14 to 22 minutes on automated lines.
— From 8.30 to 10 pm (20% of services): intervals of 18-26 minutes on conventional lines and 14 to 33 minutes on automated lines.
— From 10 to 10.30 pm (20% of services): intervals of 32-44 minutes on conventional lines and 14 to 33 minutes on automated lines.

Users should bear in mind that changes in service levels will start slightly before and last slightly longer than the specified time, due to the time required to withdraw and reintroduce trains.

Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) has already warned that the service levels will be insufficient to cope with normal demand during affected time periods, particularly from 7 to 9 am, when some 215,000 users normally access the network, and from 4 to 6 pm, when there are usually some 170,000 users. As a result, users are recommended to look for alternative means of travelling.
